October is Fire Prevention Month - Fire Safety for Children
10/22/2018 (Permalink)
October is Fire Prevention Month and we at SERVPRO of Anderson want to pass along some basic fire safety tips for you and the smallest members of your family.
*Teach children to never play with matches or lighters. Make a habit to keep these items up and away from young children.
*Create an escape plan for every room of your home. Practice two ways to get out of each room and establish a meeting place a safe distance from your home in case of evacuation. Practice this escape plan. Make it fun for your kids: use a stopwatch and see how quickly they can get to your meeting spot. Teach children to stay low to breathe easier because smoke rises. Remind kids (and adults) to not run back into the home for treasured items or pets.
*Teach children how to respond if they hear a fire alarm. Get low and get out!
Talking about what to do in case of a home fire is never a fun conversation. However, kids who have practiced their plan will know what to do in case tragedy strikes.
If your home sustains fire or smoke damage, contact the restoration specialists at SERVPRO of Anderson at 765-643-6265 anytime day or night. Our trained professionals will be onsite quickly to assess the damage and make your home "Like it never even happened".
